Dr. Terence Tao is a professor at the Department of Mathematics, UCLA. According to WikiPedia, in August 2006, he was awarded a Fields Medal, widely considered the top honor a mathematician not over 40 years of age can receive. In September 2006, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on May 18, 2007. He became a foreign associate of the United States National Academy of Sciences in 2008 and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2009. On January 11, 2010, the King Faisal Foundation announced that Tao is the co-winner of the King Faisal International Prize in the field of science for his works in mathematics.

A must-read for those interested in mathematics, Dr. Tao's blog posts include such problems as another proof of Szemerédi’s theorem, an arithmetic regularity lemma, an associated counting lemma, and applications, Density Hales-Jewett and Moser numbers, nonconventional ergodic averages and multiple recurrence for von Neumann dynamical systems and much more!
